About Us

Jeremy Howard Photography is a wedding and portrait photography company based in Nashville, Tennessee. We are dedicated to providing quality photographic services and products to those who would not normally be able to afford a professional photographer for their event or portrait needs.

History
We saw a growing need for affordable, high quality photographic services and could not stand by and watch any longer as people lent cameras to relatives to take snapshots, hired a friend with no wedding experience to take formal pictures, or just went without a wedding photographer altogether. One of the only things left after the wedding is over is the pictures. It is very important to not underestimate the value of pictures of such an important event. We decided that since we already had the equipment, software, and skills to take beautiful portraits and photojournalistic images that we should look into branching out from landscape, travel, and event photography to also shoot weddings and formal portrait sittings.

Before taking any of our own wedding clients, we shadowed another wedding photographer as a "second shooter" (a photographer hired in addition to the main photographer to help cover larger, more complex events). After we felt comfortable with being second shooters, we shot a few portrait sessions for family and friends, and eventually took on our first wedding!

We have shot many weddings, portrait sessions, and events since that time, but we are still learning, growing, and developing and are always willing to try something new or different.

Who We Are
Jeremy is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Ezell-Harding Christian School and continued on to Lipscomb University to earn his bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Systems-Management. He is currently working in the information technology field but will soon be changing careers. Jeremy has made it through the application process to become an air traffic controller, received a placement at an airport outside of St. Louis, Missouri. He is looking forward to the career change, and the possibility of devoting more of his outside-of-work time to continuing developing as a photographer.

Rebekah is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Pattonville Senior High School then moved to Tennessee to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology and family studies. She met Jeremy while at Lipscomb, and they were married in March of 2007. Rebekah graduated in May of 2009 and is pursuing jobs in higher education, specifically working with student mentoring and/or disability services.

Even though we both have our own careers, photography continues to be a passion and something to which we devote a lot of our time. Not only do we take pictures for our own pleasure and enjoyment, but also to encourage, uplift, and inspire others.

Our Style
Our shooting style is mixed. Jeremy's specialty is posed portrait work and documentary photography. One of his favorite things to experiment with is off-camera lighting, either with a flash or portable studio strobe. Rebekah specializes in candids, action, and event photojournalism. Since both of us shoot at each of our weddings and events, there is a great mix of our individual styles to choose from in a preview set.

Another important thing to know about our style is that we do not heavily rely on Photoshop effects to achieve the images we want. We never add elements to a photograph that were not there in reality. On occasion, we do removing distracting objects from your photos (power lines, random people in the background that do not belong there, stains on wedding dresses, etc.), but we strive to maintain as much of the original scene as possible. We retouch all images to remove minor blemishes for final prints and high-resolution DVDs at no extra charge.
